![]() Klein's Camp (Serengeti‚ Tanzania) Klein's Camp is located in the northern Serengeti, in the heart of Masai territory on the north-eastern boundary of the Serengeti National Park. It is a private concession of 10 000 hectares. The spectacular location of the camp on the edge of the Kuka Hills commands sweeping views across a broad valley through which the annual great migration passes.
The Grumeti River, which has its source in the southern Kenyan hills, runs through Klein's Camp and its narrow strip of riverine forest is a distinctive feature. Large mammals, including elephants and lions, move up and down the hillsides, but the mountain reedbuck, klipspringer and rock hyrax are truly at home here. A guided walk up the hillside often leads to an encounter with these rock-loving mammals as well as numerous interesting birds. Klein's Camp plays an active role in involving the neighboring Masai people in ecotourism initiatives through participation in community projects, employment opportunities and sustainable resource use.
